Very good

Really good! Walking distance from every place I wanted to visit. The breakfast was good enough and the staff helped me with an early check-in.

Excellent

Fantastic find, newly refurbished, 3min walk to spire carpark 8min walk to Luas. Value is unbelievable, ribeye steaks were delicious, malbec was yum, rooms lovely spotless triple glazing, so quiet. Staff friendly and helpful. Only complaint it was bitterly cold day and foyer and bar/dining area cold because atomic front doors opening and closing for customers. Also doors yo bar/dining area open, which i requested to be closed, which they did, making place comfortable and warm. Will definitely be back.

The Academy Plaza is my first choice when visiting Dublin The natural question that comes as a response to that statement is the one-word question “Why”? Well, if there was a single reason I would be foolish, so let’s look at the multiple ones I have. First and foremost the location of the hotel is simply great. Being situated only a few metres off Upper O’Connell Street provides you are in walking distance to most of Dublin’s many sights, pubs and restaurants, offers great connections to public transport you could wish for (Aircoach, Dublin Bus, Luas (tram)), and has all the touristy transport (hop on – hop off tours, daytrips to other parts of Ireland) in walking distance as well. Moreover, it is not nearly as loud as being on O’Connell Street itself. But of course my reasoning does not end there. After all, the same would apply to quite a few hotels. Well, I have to admit that I like saving money. Don’t you? Then the Academy Plaza hotel is good news for you. It is not cheap, but the value for money is absolutely great. If you book through the hotels own website and pay up front you can save quite a lot, especially on meals. I strongly recommend booking with the breakfast option. The breakfast on offer leaves very little to be desired – well, nothing, if I am reasonable. But I am German, so I am unreasonable when it comes to breakfast because I crave German bread. But the three course meals for dinner are absolutely unbeatable in value for money. Is it the best dining I have ever had? Well, no, not really. But that is an unfair comparison. The best dining I have ever had was like 80€ per person on food alone. You cannot fairly compare that to a dinner for under 30€. This might be reason enough for many to book, but my list still goes on. The next thing to mention is cleanliness. the personnel do everything possible to keep the hotel absolutely spotless. And while I just mentioned the personnel, let me say that they are really friendly and interested in their guests wellbeing. So, is the Academy Plaza the perfect hotel? Well, for me it is the best, but perfect does not exist. For people who like to stay in their rooms for longer periods of time the rooms might a bit smaller than desired, some people might want bigger beds, others might want harder or softer mattresses, movable shower heads, or some things I cannot think of at the moment. If these are deal breakers for anyone, then that is their taste. But my assessment as the best hotel for me to visit Dublin stays just the same. The things I want and frankly need when I visit a city are all there and they are all top-level. And the prices are more then fair. Honestly, keeping especially the staff in mind, I would be willing to pay more, so, don’t forget tipping!

Excellent

Room was clean and spacious enough, had an iron, tea & coffee facilities and plenty of room to hang clothes, bed was comfortable and not much noise. We had a 2 course dinner which was very tasty, breakfast was included and a buffet, though some of the cooked items weren’t quite warm enough for my liking but there was plenty of choice if you didn’t fancy a Full Irish. I really enjoyed my relaxing stay and would definitely return if in Dublin.

Very good

My stay was really nice, staff friendly, room nice and clean and fresh towels, bedding every day. Bathroom was clean but slightly tired looking and room very small, which I honestly cannot blame hotel as I booked it. Breakfast and location very good.

Pleasant

Staff was friendly, rooms were clean and tidy. Room was very cold had to turn the heat on every morning and evening. Very thin wall can here every door open and close. Strange that the toilet seat does not fit the size of the toilet. TV with no channels is useless. The room us meant for sleeping not for comfort or relaxing. Breakfast was tasty but very chaotic atmosphere and poorly organized.

The main reasons as to why my husband & I chose once again to stay at the Academy Plaza Hotel, apart from the still reasonable prices, are because the hotel is right in the heart of the city centre which in turn places it within a few minutes from public transport, shopping malls, amenities, eateries and places of interest. As soon as you step inside the hotel, its decor makes you feel extremely welcome, whilst the front-office, housekeeping & bar staff are always accommodating, courteous and very efficient indeed. Breakfast is also worth praising, for its variety, and heartiness. Last but not least, we would like to sincerely thank you all (incl the kitchen & maintenance staff) for all the good work, which keeps encouraging us to choose your hotel again for our next visit to Dublin. Pleasant

Actually a nice hotel with very friendly and courteous staff. Unfortunately, we had a room facing the street, which was too noisy to sleep in, especially on weekends, due to people partying and arguing, as the windows are not soundproofed at all. Even during the week, you were woken up by the street sweepers at 6:30 a.m. at the latest. Friends who had a room facing the courtyard did not have this problem, however.

Excellent

The Academy Plaza far exceeded my expectations. We felt so safe there due to the need for a key to access lifts, toilets and rooms. Spacious bar and lobby area. Comfortable bed and powerful shower. Good variety at breakfast. The staff are so professional and helpful. Looking forward to our next stay.

Excellent

Everything was first rate - friendly (and early) check-in, and the room was immaculate. Had the best night's sleep in a long time. Christmas dinner in the restaurant exceeded expectations and was excellent value for money too. Again, all the staff there contributed to making my visit most enjoyable. Will definitely stay again, especially given how handy it is for transport links in and out of Dublin. Thanks to all.

Very good

Very nice hotel! Staff very friendly, food was great, rooms are small but worked. Only issue was the front desk staff. They were nice and helpfu,l but they all seemed to not know what was going on. Basic questions to way to long to answer or figure out.
